What is Skilled Care?

Skilled services are provided by a RN or a LPN in your or your loved ones home. Skilled nursing insures that your loved ones more complex nursing needs are met. This is provided by our thoroughly supervised, educated, nursing staff. Skilled nursing orders are prescribed by a physician when the skilled services are required for that client . Services may include Tracheotomy and ventilator care, Wound care/dressing change, Tube feeding, Ostomy care, and Prevention and treatment of skin issues. Along with all of our skilled services, we also offer Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech Therapy (ST), and Psychiatric Nurses. When you’re recovering from an injury, illness or surgery, the process can sometimes mean learning how to complete daily tasks again. Physical Therapists help you or your loved one return to their maximum function after an injury or an illness. Physical therapists also work with individuals to prevent loss of mobility by developing fitness- and wellness-oriented programs for healthier lifestyles. When you’re recovering from an injury, illness or surgery, the process can sometimes mean learning how to complete daily tasks again. Occupational Therapists focus on the individual’s ability to perform the broad range of everyday activities. A physician’s referral is required in order to receive OT. Based on a thorough evaluation, the therapist will create a customized treatment plan designed to improve skills and maximize functional abilities based on priorities and personal goals. OT promotes independence by improving skills required to do daily activities. Occupational Therapy may be needed after hip or knee or hip replacement surgery, a stroke, or heart attack, heart failure, any noticeable decline in functioning, or joint pain. Speech and Language Therapy helps to improve breathing, speaking, and swallowing functioning. Speech Therapists help with individuals who suffer from a stroke, a heart attack, difficulty speaking and difficulty swallowing. A Psych Nurse will usually work with clients who have anxiety disorders such as panic attacks or various phobias, mood disorders including bipolar disorder or depression, substance abuse such as drugs or alcohol, Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. A Psych Nurse works with a team to develop an individualized care and attention that the client needs to live a full and productive life. The nurse will provide individual counseling for the client and the client’s family to help them have a better understanding of the illness. In all of these therapies our clients will remain safe in familiar surroundings while family members and caregivers can also be involved.
